July 1, 2022

How this will affect your organization:

Effective July 1, 2022, you will no longer be able to create new Mover connectors for Dropbox admin and Box admin. The ability to create new Mover connectors for Google Drive admin and Egnyte admin were disabled earlier after being disconnected by the respective providers.

You will not be affected if you are in the middle of a Mover migration project using any of these four connectors. Also, if you are currently using FastTrack service to migrate using Mover, this change doesn’t impact you.

What you can do to prepare:

Click here to learn more about the retirement plan including what scenarios will continue to be supported.

Individuals or students: You may continue to use Mover, learn how!

Configure the existing Stream tile in Microsoft 365 app launcher to go to the new Stream app on Office.com
MC381948 · COMPUTERS N’ STUFF
Stream (Classic) is transitioning to Stream (on SharePoint). Until Stream (Classic) fully retires, you can decide which Stream experience is most appropriate for your users on Office.com. Do this by configuring the target destination of the existing Stream tile in the Microsoft 365 app launcher from the SharePoint Admin Center.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 88823

When this will happen:

Targeted release (entire org): will begin rolling out in late May and expect to complete by late June.

Standard: will begin rolling out in early July and expect to complete by late August.

How this will affect your organization:

SharePoint tenant admins will have the ability to set the target destination of the existing Stream tile in the Microsoft 365 app launcher from the SharePoint Admin Center. You will be able to set the target destination to either Stream (Classic) or Stream (on SharePoint) depending on your organization’s needs.

Target destination options:

  • Automatically switch to the new Stream (on SharePoint) when recommended: This is the default option. At this time, this option directs the Stream tile to Stream (Classic). However, in the future as we update and add to Stream (on SharePoint) we plan to point the Stream tile to Stream (on SharePoint) instead. Before making the change, we’ll give notice in the message center, giving you time to choose a different option if you want.
If you don’t want Microsoft to change what happens when your users select the Stream tile, select one of these options:
  • Stream (on SharePoint): The Stream tile in the app launcher will always direct users to Stream (on SharePoint).
  • Stream (Classic): The Stream tile in the app launcher will direct users to Stream (Classic) until Classic is retired.

Stream app launcher tile setting TR
What you need to do to prepare:

To set the Stream tile destination in the Microsoft 365 app launcher:

  • Go to the Settings page of SharePoint admin center and sign in with an account that has admin permissions.
  • Select App launcher tile.
  • Select the option you want to set as the default destination for the Stream tile in the Microsoft 365 app launcher.
  • Select Save. It takes about 5 minutes for this change to take effect.

Microsoft
New Yammer as only option for non-admin users
MC379026 · COMPUTERS N’ STUFF
We are pleased to announce that the next phase of the new Yammer experience rollout is a month away. With this change, all users will access the new Yammer experience, and the toggle for classic Yammer will be removed. Admins can still switch to the classic Yammer experience via a new toggle in the Yammer admin settings.

Key points

  • Timing: We will begin rolling this out in mid-June and expect to complete rollout late June.
  • Action: To get the most out of the Yammer experience, we recommend enabling the new version of Yammer now for all users and review the changes and assess the impact on your organization.
  • Roll-out: tenant level

How this will affect your organization:

The new Yammer powers leadership engagement, corporate communications, communities, and knowledge-sharing in Microsoft 365. In addition to migrating all the key functionalities from the classic version to the new version of Yammer, these are some new features that we have implemented based on your feedback:

  • Nested replies
  • New profile page
  • Bookmarks
  • Dark mode
  • Upvote answers to Yammer questions
  • Editing attachments

For end users:

You will no longer be able to opt-out of the new version of Yammer.

For admins:

As a default the new Yammer will be enabled for all users, but admins can still switch back when needed to the classic Yammer experience, through the Opt-out option.

This option is already available for all networks and can be changed in the admin settings in the “New Yammer” module. The current active option enables the new Yammer as a default for everyone, now the default option, will enable the new Yammer for all users with opt-out option only for Admins.

How to enable either option
What you need to do to prepare:

You can use a trial tenant to test the experience without changing your existing Yammer network.

Additionally, you may consider updating your training and documentation, as well as sending out change communications within your organization as appropriate.

Reminder: IE11 desktop application retires in 1 month on June 15, 2022 – Set up IE mode today (non-LTSC, non-Server)
MC378271 · COMPUTERS N’ STUFF
As previously announced, the future of Internet Explorer on Windows is in Microsoft Edge. Internet Explorer mode (IE mode) provides legacy browser support within Microsoft Edge. Because of this, the IE11 desktop application will be retired on June 15, 2022, on certain versions of Windows 10. This means that the IE11 desktop application will no longer be supported and will be progressively redirected to Microsoft Edge over the following months, and ultimately disabled via Windows Update, to help ensure a smooth retirement.

You can control IE retirement in your environment with 1 month left—the best way to prepare for IE redirection and disablement after June 15th is to proactively retire IE in your organization before June 15th. Prepare your organization with these steps.

Note: The IE11 desktop application is not available on Windows 11. To continue using legacy IE-based sites and apps on Windows 11, IE mode in Microsoft Edge must be configured before deploying Windows 11.

Internet Explorer 11 desktop application

  • Timing: The IE11 desktop application will be retired on June 15, 2022.
    • Windows 10 LTSC and Server not affected. For a full list of what is in scope for retirement, see the FAQ.
    • IE11 is not available on Windows 11.
  • Action:

How this will affect your organization:

If your organization has legacy sites and apps with IE dependencies, you will need to set up IE mode so that users can access them through Microsoft Edge. If you do not set up IE mode before IE11 is retired and disabled, users will lose access to those legacy sites, and you could experience business disruption.

As first seen with the Windows 10 January 2022 C “Preview” release, IE11 now has an in-product banner notifying users of the upcoming retirement. This only shows on Windows versions affected by IE11 retirement. To configure, use the “Hide Internet Explorer 11 Application Retirement Notification” group policy found in the Local Group Policy Editor under Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer.

Note: After June 15, 2022, the IE11 desktop application will be removed from in-scope versions of Windows 10 via Windows update. We do not recommend avoiding Windows updates to keep IE11 as Window updates contain critical operating system security patches.

What you need to do to prepare:

To prepare, we recommend setting up Microsoft Edge in your organization. If your organization needs legacy browser support, you should set up IE mode in Microsoft Edge as soon as possible because this is a multi-step process.
